The Pub was opened in 1989 by local restaurateurs Joe Slattery and Steve Andrews as a place to indulge their passion for great beer, food and steel tip darts. Tapping into Joe’s English roots (and love of Bass Ale) they decided to emulate traditional English pubs, named the place The London Underground Pub, and served English dishes and the best draft available. Blacksburg was quick to adopt the Underground as its pub, giving it the local communal feel of neighborhood bars worldwide.
