They opened Pizzeria Paradiso so they could make the kind of pizza they longed for but couldn’t find in the DC area; the kind of pizza where the crust was the most important part.
So they started with a wood-burning, domed, stone oven able to cook at a temperature of 650 degrees. They also wanted their guests to feel like they were being treated to the warmth and comfort of a close friend’s home, so they placed the oven at the heart of the restaurant.
2. Matchbox Restaurant
What makes a great pizza? It starts with a great oven! Theirs is an authentic wood-fired masonry oven that has been burning constantly since the day they opened. Modern gas and electric ovens cannot produce the intense heat needed – over 800 degrees – to achieve the crispy, smoky pizza crust that their customers have come to know. With dough and toppings made fresh daily in-house, the goal is simple–to be known for serving the best pizza in DC!
3. We, The Pizza
“We” is powerful. “We” is strong. “We” is where “I” meets “you” and “us” meets “them” and change happens. “We” means togetherness, unity, peace and good will. “We” will never be alone. “We” is selfless, because there is no “self” in “we.” So why don’t “we” go grab some great pizza!
4. Ella’s Wood Fired Pizza
Ella’s features traditional, Neapolitan-style, thin crust pizza baked in a blistering-hot, wood-fired pizza oven. The result is a lightly crisp, nicely chewy crust with a hint of smoke which allows the full flavor of the quality toppings to emerge!
