Wine and dogs – have you ever heard of such a spectacular duo? Whether you’re attending to play or interested in adding a new friend to your home, local animal shelters bring dogs in need of adopting to meet patrons and other dogs. Guests are encouraged to bring their own pups and a portion of the proceeds from the tasting room are donated to the visiting shelter. Cue the “awwwwwww.”

2. Fridays After 5: Every Friday Until September 9th

Fridays After 5 is one of CVille’s favorite live concert series, now in its 29th year! The rotation of artists covers everything from blues or rock, to country, soul, and oldies. Certainly the perfect way to celebrate summertime in Charlottesville by supporting some local talents.

3. Heritage Harvest Festival: September 10

Thomas Jefferson was a man who loved local food. His legacy is carried on through this educational event that promotes gardening, sustainability, and the preservation of heritage plants. The festival includes tastings and workshops, hands-on cooking demonstrations by some of CVille’s best chefs, and a variety of tours of the restored gardens at Monticello.

This celebration of inclusion and diversity will make you proud to say, “Virginia is for lovers!” Featuring bouncy castles, live music all day long, and dozens of interactive vendors.

5. McCormick Observatory Public Night Program: Every 1st & 3rd Friday

The mid-fall counter to Tom Tom, Tomtoberfest similarly features good eats from a dozen local food trucks, cold drinks in a giant New Belgium craft beer garden, and live music to get you off your feet and help you dance off your slice of Blue Ridge Pizza. Day events include a regional tech mixer for the brainy and an arts fair for the crafty.
