2. Slide the City: June 18th
Come early or stay late – this block party will go on all day! Richmond will welcome music and street entertainers, food venders, and a record-breaking, 1,000 foot water slide with a portion of proceeds going to the Special Olympics Virginia.
3.Friday Pictures in the Park: Friday Nights
Free movie screenings have become a popular way to spend a summer night in Richmond. For a family-friendly, Friday night, check out RVA’s parks for public screenings of children’s films!
4. The Richmond Vegetarian Festival: June 25th
The annual Richmond Vegetarian festival presents music, speakers, and plenty of plant-based food like this vegan BBQ sandwich! The free event attracts around 10,000 people each year. Dogs are welcome!
5. The Flying Squirrels
A summer in Richmond is not complete without spending a night going nuts at the Diamond! Make sure to stay through the ninth inning – a majority of summer games with the Squirrels end with a fireworks show.
6. Maymont Glow Run: July 9th
This family-centered, 3-mile run allows walkers and racers alike to see Maymont Park in a new light – after-hours and illuminated! Profits from the race will go toward upkeep of grounds and programs at Maymont.
7. Bon Secours Redskins Training Camp: July 28th – August 14th
Since 2013, fans have flocked to the Redskins’ Training Center to observe on-field practices. Time permitting, players and coaches are available afterward to take pictures, shake hands, and sign autographs. The biggest highlight of the off-season is Fan Appreciation Day on August 13th. 8. Festival of Arts At Dogwood Dell
For more than 60 years, Dogwood Dell has hosted a summer-long celebration of the arts featuring art exhibits, concerts, dance performances, and theatric productions! 9. Richmond Jazz Festival: August 11th – 14th

10. Filipino Festival: August 12th – 13th
Now in its 11th year, the Filipino Festival continues to highlight showcase the vividity of Filipino culture through serving up authentic cuisine and featuring folk dancing and music.
11. Carytown Watermelon Festival: August 14th
Featuring 80 musicians, 100 exhibitors, and most importantly – over 3,000 watermelons. The Watermelon Festival is a Richmond tradition, perfect for a family day out!
