Dave Fafara, Roastmaster at Shenandoah Joe, right across the street from Three Notch’d came up with a special three roast coffee blend just for this beer. The coffee beans are cold infused allowing the fresh flavor and aroma to dominate without the acidity. All of this is backed by a rich and hearty oatmeal stout with a great semi-sweet-baking-chocolate-like sweetness.

A nice strong heavy stout. History lesson: Jeb Stuart was a General in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. While very successful in many local battles, he is also partly blamed for the loss at Gettysburg.

Dark Hollow blends the miracle of two crafts–brewing and distillation–to create a work greater than the sum of its parts. An Imperial Stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels still dripping with uncut whiskey. For 100 days the young beer patiently breathes in and out of the wood, gaining complexity, character, and serious attitude. Can be enjoyed immediately, or five years later, when you dust off the last vintage bottle from your cellar to share with good company.

Inspired by slackers, sweaters, eccentric friends and exotic drinks. This decadent chocolate milk stout has been a year in the making and has been piloted and tested at the brewery countless times to ensure its quality. The final masterpiece pours midnight black and is capped with a tan pillowy head. Eight different malts and whole vanilla beans create flavors of chocolate and espresso, offering a perfect way to mellow out after a rough set on the lanes.

Starr Hill’s Dark Starr Stout has won more national and international awards than any other Dry Irish Stout in the country. Named after the wildlife refuge in VA and NC that was once used as part of the Intracoastal Waterway, the Great Dismal Black IPA is a dark, full bodied ale, extensively hopped both in bittering and aroma.

Very dark brown/black in color with and aroma of chocolate and malt and flavors of caramel, sweet chocolate and a touch roasted barley.

This 2013 and 2012 Virginia Craft Brewers Fest Gold Winner & 2010 World Beer Cup Bronze Medal Winner is black in color with a subtle roasted flavor of fine toasted malts. Lager yeast creates a quick and dry finish.
